Well, this was our first weekend tournament for this club season and it was a challenging one BUT all I see ahead of us is positivity.
I have to say that it takes me at least 3 days to recuperate from trips on the weekend and I didn't even have to drive this weekend. You find out that once you get home that muscles that you forgot you had HURT. I mean even my ponytail hurts after tournament weekends and I don't even play. Does that mean I'm getting old? DON'T ANSWER THAT!! hahaha! Tournaments away from home sure make you realize how great life really is.....you've got a place to stay the night away from home, cable TV (even HBO) :-), someone to make your bed for you and bring you clean towels every day......that's a pretty good life to me. The hotel we stayed at even provided breakfast, DINNER and free FOUNTAIN DRINKS ALL DAY! Are you kidding me? I mean it just doesn't get much better than that. Plus, this weekend reminded me how lucky I am to have another volleyball family that I am so happy to be around. We take care of one another, cheer for one another, back each other up, and truly treat one another as family. I know that this doesn't happen much anymore in the world of youth sports but somehow God continually blesses us each and every year bringing our volleyball family closer and closer together. Once in a while there are those that don't fit with our group and somehow find their way out, but when that does happen, he replaces them with other pieces. BUT there are times when he has other plans for some members and they have to journey away from us to keep on their path. There are even times when he takes them to another CONTINENT to do his work!!! We get to see some amazing things happen to the people in our volleyball family. Some are missed more than words can say on a daily basis, but we will always have the love of volleyball to bring us back together. And that's pretty AWESOME to share.
I hope each of you had an awesome weekend if you were on the road playing some volleyball or even if you were the one that had to stay home and play with a volleyball in the back yard..........as long as you love and respect this sport it will love and respect you back!!!!

Lets get this STARTED
I started this little blog I don't know how long ago with the thinking that I would really get into it......well, it didn't happen. Turns out this blogging stuff is hard. I'm not the kind of tell all type of person so that makes the blogging thing a little more difficult I'm sure. Haha. I'm gonna try and do this again and see where it goes...........So lets see where this takes us........
I'm so pumped up for this weekend because its our first Club volleyball tournament of the year and I have to admit that time away with my volleyball family is always a good time. There are guaranteed laughs and memories that will last a lifetime. I always wonder if the kids that play understand that yes, as much as you don't think so at the time, these are some of the best years of your life?!?! Memories and friendships that are forged during this time in your life are the ones that will last a lifetime. The true friendships that I have at this point in my life are the ones that were made during volleyball. Be that when I played or the with wonderful athletes that I have coached over the years that I have a new relationship with after they have graduated. Those are some special girls! The ones that text you and let you know how everything is going in their lives and when those big moments happen you are one of the first to hear about it. If that doesn't make you feel like you've meant something to them in their lives, I don't know what will. And then, every once in a while, you get those messages or emails that THANK YOU for the role that you played in their lives. Those bring tears to my eyes just thinking about em........few and far between but you do get em........Then there are the ones that don't even have to tell you what they meant because the only words that need to say are " I miss you........I wish I could go back in time and be back in the gym with you yelling at me and making me better, even though at the time I wished you would have just shut up!" HAHA....those are good ones to get too!
So we went from what my plans are this weekend to what a blessing it is to be a part of our youth in the volleyball world and how they have changed me......BIG LEAP.....hahaha. Anyways, I hope that this blog finds a place in my heart so that I will continue to do it and maybe even find a group of people that enjoy it.......
I promise it'll get better and more entertaining as time goes on, I hope. Hahaha!
